  • LCD monitor, better than 1440x900, bigger than 19 inches diagonally, speakers, DVI input A Dell Ultrasharp U2412M adorns the desk now.
  • A nice ~22 inch 1920x1080 or better monitor for the upstairs computer.
  • A second Dell Ultrasharp U2412M would be swell

Labeler

  • Brother P-Touch models seem to have a broader range of tape sizes

Thanks, Dear! Got a labeller for Christmas. :)

servers and parts

  • HP rp3440 -- fastest available small sized (< 4U) PA-RISC machine. Up to 2 1GHz dual core PA8900 CPUs.
  • A nice SPARC machine. T5120, T5140, T5220, T5240 or similar. (A nicely configured V215 would also do, but a single processor V215 is not any faster than the current V210. So make sure it's really cheap.) A T5140 is on its way! (eBay item 301612420305)
  • A small AIX machine. 9110-51A (p5 51A), 9115-505 (p5 505 or 505Q), or similar.
  • HP rx1620, rx2620 or rx2660. Small (1U or 2U) Itanium2 machine. (An IBM 8834-32X might work, too.)
  • Apple Xserve G5 -- 1U, 2.3 GHz dual processor, 3 SATA drive slots (these systems apparently do not support Wake On LAN or other remote management. In keeping with the desire to keep it shut down most of the time, a remote power control device will be needed. Which is a shame, really.)Acquired from craigslist. See kallisti.
  • LAN management adapter for the backup machine. Intel Remote Management Module 2. AXXRMM2. This machine is being passed on soon, so don't worry about the LAN adapter.

Electrical stuff

FedEx tracking number is 102342419943583. Wound up winning the first two auctions listed. These units arrived 2013-10-29. Back door access used and documented on 2013-10-30. See AP9210.
