The square hole hardware issue can be overcome for rackmount stuff that wants round holes and uses 10-32 screws. (The heads on these screws are often just under 3/8 inch diameter and fit right through a rack's square holes.) Lowes has some #10 nylon washers with a 3/8 inch outer diameter that just fit inside square hole rack openings. Place a 7/16 inch or 1/2 inch diameter #10 metal flat washer on the #10 screw, place two of the #10 nylon washers on screw and tighten while ensuring the nylon washers go into the hole. This provides a nicely centered and secure fit.
